because of brown colored complex of [ Fe(H2O)5 NO] at the junction, morever bown ring is not neccessarily formed at the junction, if u add the conc. H2so4 quickly then there will be a brown colouration in the solution, and no clear ring

his experiment u add acid slowly along the wall .ring must be formed on the surface. inner ring formed will be unstable because the complex is unstable and breaks inside easily

If one performs the experiment carefully the brown ring is obtained due  density difference.

be careful not to disturb the solution in the test tube and to keep it in the cold bath since high temperature does not ease the complex formation.

H2SO4 being heavier forms the lower layer and reacts only with small amount of nitrate and FeSO4 at its surface , therefore a brown ring is formed at the junction of two layers
