so ultimately 2 steps forward in total of 8 steps

i.e., 2 steps in 8 seconds(since each step in 1 sec)

i.e., 2m in 8 sec (as 1 step = 1m)

now only 5 m remains.......

he'l cover dat 5m in the 1st 5 steps .......i.e., 5 sec(coz he takes 5 steps ahead & den 3 steps back......so 1st 5 steps)

coz 1nce he fell in da pit, he can't get out of dat  2 hav 3 steps backward as per  ur question............so those 3 steps(3m,3sec) r not considered over here....

so,   5 m in 5 sec  (coz 5m in 5 steps each of 1m covered in 1 sec).......................(2)
