Arup Roy Choudhury is the new chairman and managing director of state-run utility NTPC. Roy was earlier with the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC).

"I intend to take NTPC to greater heights towards becoming the largest and best power producer in the world, powering India’s growth," said Roy, addressing NTPC employees Wednesday.

Roy is a civil engineer. He did engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and has a post graduation degree in management
