Some parts of Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata suddenly plunged into darkness this evening. Officials of private power utility major CESC Ltd, which supplies electricity to the state-run hospital, said some portions of the sprawling hospital compound suffered powercut due to a technical fault at around 7:45 pm. However, an additional mobile generator was pressed into service for power back-up and engineers managed to plug the fault finally, the officials said adding power was restored in another two hours time, by around 11 pm. The snag occurred on CESC's 'second point of supply', the officials said. Patients relatives claimed lights went off in some wards but the situation did not go out of control. The hospital authorities were not available for comments.
