hi guyz.. maybe u have seen the enormous sucess of the inorganic thread...so, i'm starting this here.... all we have to do is keep on posting new quesns after giving answers to previous ones.....even if the answer is known to u.. let me start wid the quesn... bacteria also produce ATP like eukarya.. and it also uses proton gradient for converting ADP to ATP ... mitochondria pumps it into the perimitochondrial space... my quesn is.. where does the bacteria pump the H+ ions from its matrix.... options will be given 2morow if no one is able to answer....

I think in bacteria the protons are accumulated between the cell membrane and the cell wall. So, the proton should enter from this gap into the cytoplasm......correct me if i am wrong.

yep.... answer by jps is right... space b/w cell wall and cell membrane... and bacteria doesnt have mitochondria.. so, it must be cytoplasmic matrix.....

Some que related to genetics.......... 1. If a chiasma forms etween the loci of genes A and B in 20% of the tetrads of an individual of genotype AB/ab, the percentage of gametes expected to be Ab is a. 5 b. 10 c. 20 d. 40 2.Cis-trans expression of genes is an example of ............. (This is a doubt). Also explain what is CHIMAERA? 3.If 4 chromosomes synapse into a cross- shaped config. during meiotic prophase, the prganism is heterozygous for a a. deletion b. pericentric inversion c. translocation d. paracentric inversion 4.A ring of 3 chromosomes and 6 bivalents are observed in pea plant. What type of cytological abnormality is present in this plant? It is a. triploid b. primary trisomic c. secondary trisomic d. inversion homozygote 5. Which of the following will cause more effective mutation? a. one codon b. one base deletion c. base substitution d. base deamination

for 1st, i think answer is 10 % .. i.e out of the 20 % recombinant gametes, 10% will be Ab and other 10% will be aB ... for 2nd...cis expression of gene ..AB/ab and trans expression of gene = Ab / aB chimaera is some mythological creature which has mixture of traits.. like claws of lion, wings of eagle or something like that... u can call it as an organism created by mixing many organism... hence, chimaeric DNA is the one which has DNA of some other organism too mixed with DNA of a particular organism.. eg. in Bt cotton.. for quesn 5.. answer wud be 1 base deletion as the amino acid sequence will be changed ... EDITED .. sorry for the 1st one.. my answer for 1st is wrong... for the first one, answer shud be 5% ... because it is given 20% of tetrad and not 20% chromosomes show recombination .... and in tetrad, out of 4 chromatids, only 2 recombine... so, answer shude be 20 / 2 = 10% recombination value... and that means 5% is Ab and other 5 % is aB

ethanol nd acetone r used to prevent the collapse of the sample while undergoin dehydration. Formaldehyde is also used for the fixation of the sample. The correct option would have to be (d).

5 molcules for each CO2 fixed, so in total 10 for 2 molecules.

quesn 10.. silk threads are produced by silk glands of caterpillar while undergoing the initial stages of metamorphosis.. quesn 11 ... i think fish is the richest source...only a guess... quesn 12.. flacherie is a viral disease.... maggot = caterpillar = grub = earwig ..all these are not exactly synonyms.. but they all represent the larval stages on some flying and related insects...
