In chemistry, valence, also known as valency or valence number, is a measure of the number of bonds formed by an atom of a given element. "Valence" can be defined as the number of valence bonds a given atom has formed, or can form, with one or more other atoms. For most elements the number of bonds can vary. The IUPAC definition limits valence to the maximum number of univalent atoms that may combine with the atom, that is the maximum number of valence bonds that is possible for the given element.

Ethers are slightly polar. The C-O-C bond angle in the functional group is about 110°, and the C-O dipoles do not cancel out. Ethers are more polar than alkenes but not as polar as alcohols, esters, or amides of comparable structure. However, the presence of two lone pairs of electrons on the oxygen atoms makes hydrogen bonding with water molecules possible.

In ClO2 ,the central Cl atom is sp2 hybridized with O-Cl-O angle of 118 degree.....the bond lengths are both 149 pm .....Cl-O bond has appreciable double bond character due to p(pi)-d(pi) bonding..the molecule is paramagnetic since it has one electron in a p-orbital... now often odd electron molecules dimerizes in order to pair the electron but ClO2 does not ...this is probably due to the reason that odd electron is delocalized as it is involved in p(pi)-d(pi) bonding.. in contrast the odd electron on N in NO2 is localized as nitrogen does not contain a d orbital.

we can find out about the quadrants by looking at the x &y coordinates given in the question...for eg..if x is +ve :: if y is +ve......1st quadrant if y is -ve.......4th quadrantif x is -ve :: if y is +ve.........2nd quadrant if y is -ve.........3rd quadrant

................................since the central sulphur atom is attached to more electronegative oxygen atoms.......so it has +6 oxidation state................................and the other sulphur atom have -2 oxidation state.

it becomes planar b'coz due to the resonating effect of -ve charge.....single bond around -ve charged species get some double bond character.due to which the molecule have to become planar....to decrease the strain........
