Armed Force Medical College:
The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) was set up in 1948 in the immediate post-world war period. On the recommendations of the BC Roy Committee, remnants of the Indian Army Medical Corps units were amalgamated into one unit to create the Armed Forces Medical College. Over the past 50 years, it has grown in its functions and has become one of the premier medical colleges of the country
The AFMC is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Science, Nashik and is recognised by the Medical Council of India.
Admission to MBBS course is based on written examination. The written examination is generally held on 1st Sunday of May. Successful candidates are called for interview in June for the courses starting in July. Admission is subject to medical fitness. Method of Selection: - Written test and Interview

Generally, written test for MBBS courses of AFMC consists of the following pattern

| Each part comprises of 50 questions of one mark each. For each correct answer 1 mark is awarded. For each wrong answer 0.25 marks is deducted. Interview of Candidate:
- On the basis of their performance in the written examination selected candidates in order of roll numbers are called for an interview which is generally held in the month of June at AFMC, PUNE.
