WBJEE- West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations.



  • The basic purpose is to select candidates for consideration for admission to the State Colleges on the basis of the results of a single competitive examination, which would also lead to saving of time, energy and expenditure on the part of the candidates in appearing at number of entrance tests.

  • The Office of the WBJEE Board has been functioning at Slater Hall in the campus of Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, Howrah – 711 103.

  • WBJEE Board conducts five entrance examinations – (a) the JEM – (i) for admission of students to degree level courses in Medical Colleges, Dental Colleges and Universities, West Bengal.

  • The Entrance Examination consists of 3 (three) papers:

    i) Physics

    ii) Chemistry

    iii) Biological Sciences.



  • Multiple Choice type Questions (MCQ) and also a few short answer type questions will be set in each question paper. 80% marks will be allotted to Multiple Choice type Questions (MCQ), (four options including single correct answer) and 20% marks will be allotted to short answer type questions. For each incorrect response (answer) 33.33% of mark would be deducted. More than one answer indicated against one question will be treated as incorrect response/answer.

  • Admission :

    1.) It should be noted that the Board is in no way responsible for admission to the Constituent Universities/colleges and candidates have to comply with the requirements of eligibility condition for admission as would be laid down by different Central Selection Committees (CSC). The Board only provides the Merit Lists of the Entrance Examination to the concerned Central Selection Committees and the final selection / allocation of seats rests with the CSC only. Compliance with the requirement of application form of the Joint

    Entrance Examination does not make a candidate eligible for admission to any constituent College / University.

    2.) After publication of Merit List(s), candidates must also make separate applications to the concerned Central Selection Committee with their prescribed fees within their prescribed dates and rules. No merit listed candidate will be allowed to appear at the counselling unless he/she is able to produce admit card/ duplicate admit card issued by the Board with proper unmultilated/undistorted/unsoiled photograph.

  • Medical Fitness: During Counselling Medical certificate is to be produced from a Registered Medical Practitioner regarding physical and mental fitness as per proforma provided by Central Selection Committee (Medical). The proforma may be obtained from Central Selection Committee (Medical) against payment of Rs. 20/-.
